Tomorrow (Fri, 1/31) is the big day!
If you’re thinking about getting my new book you’ve got options. Here are my favorites:
•AUDIOBOOK•
Libro.fm supports indie bookshops & you pick your own store (keeps your $$ local). Sweet, right?
New to Libro.fm? When you set up an acct you choose your fave shop. Don’t have one? Use my hometown favorite: Bookbug in Kalamazoo, MI.
Already on Libro? Head to my bio here and hit my linktree for a direct link to the book.
•EBOOK•
Consider Bookshop.org (with a caveat) because, like Libro, they support local bookshops! Here’s the caveat (as of now): my book hasn’t pushed to them yet. They’ve been selling books for a long time but just added ebooks yesterday so you may have to wait a few days. I’ll update when I know more.
In the meantime: Don’t fancy setting up new accounts? Or waiting on the ebook? I got you:
•Plan B•
These booksellers carry both versions: Kobo, B&N, Apple Books and Google Play!
or
•Plan C•
Libraries! If buying it isn’t in the cards right now, I totally get it. I can confirm that the audio version is already on Hoopla - and possibly other library apps. If you don’t see it on the app you use (or want the ebook version) be sure to request it. Helps a ton.

As always, grateful for you!
Tarak-Kar lived a simple life in his village until a monstrous invasion shattered his world. Now, armed only with his wits and an ancient axe, he journeys to a city where he must rally its people to unite against the oncoming horde. Will they listen to a provincial peasant? Will he survive long enough to find out?
"Folks today have gathered here,
and come from near and far,
to hear the tale our ancestors told -
the tale of Tarak-Kar."
The Tale of Tarak-Kar is a ballad that honors the storytellers of old, who passed legends across generations through spoken performances. The story unfolds in a traditional rhyming scheme to aid in memorization and lends itself to theatrical retelling. Get the audiobook and listen in as Jeff Witzke takes on the bard's role and brings the story to life.
"Staunch he reached forth and lifted the axe.
All of his strength was required!
For long it had rested and gone fast asleep,
the magic within deeply mired."
His quest leads him to a bustling city, where he struggles to convince the skeptical residents of the impending threat. Will Tarak's unwavering courage be enough to rally them to unite against the horde? Will he survive long enough to find out?
“With leathery skin that’s tougher than iron,
and horns where their ears ought to’ve been.
No one survives when this darkness steps forth.
No one survives when comes Makr’sin.”
While you can enjoy the audiobook on its own, combine it with its companion ebook for an immersive read-along experience. Together they are perfect for younger readers to improve their reading skill, or for older solo readers to enjoy. Also great for performance and/or classroom use!
